The PT9 C-Proof is a sea water resistant underwater locating device. This underwater acoustic beacon has been tested to, and meets or exceeds, all requirements of SAE AS 8045. It is specially designed for Data Protective Capsules (FRM) of Voyage Data Recorder (VDR/S-VDR) Systems. It withstands the rough environmental conditions of maritime navigation, high-G impact shock and deep water immersion. The PT9 C-Proof is a battery powered device, which radiates a pulsed acoustic signal into the surrounding water upon activation by its water sensitive switch. The beacon operates over a period of 30 days when immersed in fresh or salt water. It is mounted to a data protective capsule by means of a mounting kit.
The PT9 C-Proof is approved by the BSH (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) therefore the device has been type-examination tested under hardest conditions, according to the corresponding above-mentioned standards.
The idea of the PT9 C-Proof was, to develop an Acoustic Beacon especially for VDR and S-VDR capsules in maritime navigation. For this purpose, there were selected materials and coatings, which have proved themselves suitable to withstand the rough environmental conditions on deck of a ship. Furthermore the housing and the water sensitive switches are galvanically aligned!
In addition to the corrosion-resistant parts, like housing and water sensitive switch, the PT9 C-Proof is essentially different from known acoustic beacons, by its patent pending intelligent activation. Disruptive factors like rain, spray, condensate, detergents etc. are ignored by this capacity.
The advantage of this protection against inadvertent triggering of the beacon is, that the number of unintentional activations are limited to a minimum and this improves the longevity of the battery. There is no need to install further parts, as e. g. a water switch. Thus, the PT9 C-Proof delivery status is “ready for use”. There is no need to assemble or disassemble the beacon for operation, inspection or battery testing. The beacon test can be performed conform to, and as mentioned in the SAE AS8045. The battery is field replaceable.
The PT9 C-Proof is 1:1 interchangeable with the Acoustic Beacons of Dukane DK 120, Dukane DKM 120 and Benthos ELP-362D. Adapters for mounting kits for other Beacons like DK/DKM 480 and DK140 are available.

Der PT9 C-Proof ist eine seewasserfeste Unterwasserortungsbake gemäß SAE AS 8045, welche speziell für den Aufbau auf Datenschutzkapseln (FRM) von Voyage Data Recorder (VDR/S-VDR) Systemen entwickelt wurde. Der PT9 C-Proof hat die Aufgabe, im Falle einer Aktivierung (Eintauchen in Wasser), für mindestens 30 Tage ein Ortungssignal im Bereich von 25 – 50 kHz (DIN EN 61996, Seeschifffahrt), mit einem Schalldruck von 160,5 dB, abzugeben.
Der PT9 C-Proof ist durch das BSH (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) zugelassen , dabei wurde das Gerät unter härtesten Bedingungen, gemäß den einschlägigen Normen baumustergeprüft.
Der PT9 C-Proof wurde speziell für den Einsatz auf Schiffen entwickelt. Hierfür wurden Materialien und Beschichtungen ausgewählt, welche sich bereits unter den rauen Bedingungen an Deck eines Schiffes bewährt haben. Zudem wurden alle, mit der Umwelt in Berührung kommenden, Materialien galvanisch optimal aufeinander abgestimmt und sind daher extrem korrosionsbeständig!
Neben den korrosionsgeschützten Bauteilen, wie Gehäuse und Kontaktflächen, unterscheidet sich der PT9 C-Proof, durch seine zum Patent angemeldete intelligente Anschaltung, wesentlich von den bekannten Systemen. Störfaktoren wie Regen, Gischt, Tauwasser, etc. werden durch diese Funktion weitestgehend ausgeblendet.
Das hat den Vorteil, dass die Anzahl der ungewollten Anschaltungen auf ein Minimum reduziert wird, was einen erheblichen Einfluss auf die Batterielebensdauer hat. Auf das Anbringen aufwändiger, mechanischer Schutzmaßnahmen, zur Verhinderung einer ungewollten Anschaltung (z.B.: Water Switch), kann beim PT9 C-Proof komplett verzichtet werden. Der PT9 C-Proof ist dadurch im Auslieferungszustand sofort einsatzbereit. Die jährliche Inspektion kann ohne Demontage von Bauteilen, konform der SAE AS8045, erfolgen. Ein Batteriewechsel ist jederzeit, durch das separat zu öffnende Batteriefach, möglich.
Der PT9 C-Proof ist 1:1 austauschbar mit Ortungsbaken vom Typ Dukane DK 120, Dukane DKM 120 und Benthos ELP-362D. Für weitere Bakentypen, wie DK/DKM 480 und DK140, sind passende Adapter lieferbar.
