The PT9 C-Proof is a sea water resistant underwater locating device. This underwater acoustic beacon has been tested to, and meets or exceeds, all requirements of SAE AS 8045. It is specially designed for Data Protective Capsules (FRM) of Voyage Data Recorder (VDR/S-VDR) Systems. It withstands the rough environmental conditions of maritime navigation, high-G impact shock and deep water immersion. The PT9 C-Proof is a battery powered device, which radiates a pulsed acoustic signal into the surrounding water upon activation by its water sensitive switch. The beacon operates over a period of 30 days when immersed in fresh or salt water. It is mounted to a data protective capsule by means of a mounting kit.
The PT9 C-Proof is approved by the BSH (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) therefore the device has been type-examination tested under hardest conditions, according to the corresponding above-mentioned standards.
The idea of the PT9 C-Proof was, to develop an Acoustic Beacon (ULB) especially for VDR and S-VDR capsules in maritime navigation. For this purpose, there were selected materials and coatings, which have proved themselves suitable to withstand the rough environmental conditions on deck of a ship. Furthermore the housing and the water sensitive switches are galvanically aligned!

A new formulated ceramic coating topped the already excellent corrosion protection.
Hence the PT9 withstands the extreme environmental conditions on sea even
longer. Approved in long term testing and guaranteed by us. Extended to 6 years.
The advantage of this protection against inadvertent triggering of the beacon is, that the number of unintentional activations are limited to a minimum and this improves the longevity of the battery. There is no need to install further parts, as e. g. a water switch. Thus, the PT9 C-Proof delivery status is “ready for use”. There is no need to assemble or disassemble the beacon for operation, inspection or battery testing. The beacon test can be performed conform to, and as mentioned in the SAE AS8045. The battery is field replaceable.
The PT9 C-Proof is 1:1 interchangeable with the Acoustic Beacons of Dukane DK 120, Dukane DKM 120 and Benthos ELP-362D. Adapters for mounting kits for other Beacons like DK/DKM 480 and DK140 are available.
